Differece between VPN and Proxy

                                What is vpn vs what is proxy?

VPN(virtual private network) If in your minds come vpn suddenly you think bypass the location. but some sites are restricted in your area then bypass your location and use that site. But vpn is very useful according to security. if you are in public network like railway station or coffee shop then vpn can be useful for you. Basically Vpn encrypt your data and send through tunnel.If you purchasing vpn then vpn service provider given user id and password after login you can use the safest internet mostly vpn is using in educational or bank department because vpn given the secure connection. secure connection refers to encrypted data if you want data prom server or also sending to server then in between path all data are in encrypted form no one hijack or capture the data.in market different types of free and paid vpn are available.
Actually vpn are uses on whole system.not only single application like chrome or any browser.

Proxy:
if you listen proxy what comes before in your mind actually proxy means i am not here but someone do our work. I think all of you also familiar with college attendance proxy if you are not presenting in class then someone told present sir and your attendance will present

So basically same things here proxy are given to private ip address with port no to help the change your location its works as a man in the middle.if you using google chrome and proxy are configured in that then you got a ip address that ip address shows your real ip address basically here means your real ip is different after proxy configuration your real ip change with the proxy ip now this ip are your real ip your location is also different it is available for all country and state. it is not secure then vpn. it is configured in only particular application like chrome Mozilla.

Two types of proxy are available 
HTTP
SOCKS

http is old version of proxy it is no secure it is only control the traffic on internet

Socks
it is extended version of proxy its using for different works now its available in two version socks4 and socks5.

so basically we can say proxy giving a ip address to connect from a server in different location it is act like a mediator.
